Eileen K. Pelsy Logan
August 26, 1923 to October 28, 2011
LAFAYETTE - Eileen Kathryn Pelsy Logan, 88, of Lafayette died at 12:26 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Francesville, the daughter of the late John and Lydia Knochel Pelsy. On July 7, 1944 she married Howard Eldon Logan in Oak Park, IL. He died on May 29, 1974.
She is survived by her four children: Terry Lynn (husband, Fred Kramer) of Grant Park, IL; John Howard Eldon (wife, Beverly), Kathryn Eileen, and Kerry Lee, all of Lafayette. She has four grandchildren: Renee Marie Kramer Witucki (husband, Gary), Frederick John Kramer (wife, Joanna), Tricia Lynn Kramer Groot (husband, Henry) and John Paul Logan. She has four great grandchildren: Emma Kathryn, Matthew Henry and Laura Faythe Groot and Samantha Lee Witucki. Her brother, Vernon Pelsy lives in Francesville.
She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Pelsy and 2 infant brothers, Lester and Benjamin.
Mrs. Logan attended high school in Francesville, where she played the trumpet in band, and in 1941 she graduated with honors. She then worked her way through college in three years, graduating from Indiana University, Bloomington. She lived most of her adult life in Lafayette. After college she was employed by Bell & Howell, Chicago. During World War II, she worked at the Buick Plant in Chicago as a test cell operator, leading a group of engineers and others, who tested aircraft engines. She could determine performance of an airplane engine by its sound. She liked to paint and read and spend time with her family. She was baptized Dec. 18, 1939 at the Francesville Apostolic Christian Church and was a member of the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church, 1200 Tippecanoe Street, Lafayette, and also on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., (Saturday, (Nov. 5), at the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church, followed by a luncheon in the church basement. A grave-side service will be held at 3:30 p.m/, also Saturday, in Francesville. Mrs. Logan will rest beside her husband, Howard, at the Roseland Cemetery, 12618 West 500 South, Francesville.
