WINAMAC - Jean Marie "Jeanne" Houin, 69, of Winamac, died Monday, Nov. 9, at her residence. 

She was born June 3, 1946 in Winamac.

As a young girl, Mrs. Houin was an accomplished baton twirler and won many awards. She worked as a school teacher at St. Michael's School in Plymouth, for several years. She also had worked for Clara's Tax Service in Winamac for 15 years and as a bookeeper and secretary for the Roudebush Company and Moss Creek Golf Club. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She had served as the church organist at St. Michael's and St. Peter's churches for several years. She loved music very much. She also loved to bowl and dance. She especialy enjoyed working in her yard. She was a past member of Kiwanis, Moose Lodge, and VFW Auxiliary. She loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service will be at 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Lung Association or Pulaski County Community Foundation for the Earl D. Roudebush Scholarship Fund.

William L. Reinholt

February 19, 1948 to November 6, 2015

WINAMAC - William Lee Reinholt, 67, of Winamac, passed away at 8:04 a.m., Friday, Nov.6, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

He was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Winamac to the late Thomas W. and Marguerite R. Wolfram Reinholt.

Mr. Reinholt was a telephone installation/lineman for the telephone company. He was the first to install telephone lines at the sheriff’s office. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, serving one year in the Vietnam. War. He was a member of the American Legion in Monterey.He received a medal from the American Legion for saving two kids from drowning in the Tippecanoe River. He was an avid fisherman and could hold his poker face during a card game.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home with Rev. Jarrel Hartle officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct a military graveside service.. 

Memorial donations may be given to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Evelyn M. Haselby

November 28, 1924 to November 6, 2015

WINAMAC - Evelyn M. Haselby, 90, of Star City, passed away at 04:21 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport.

She was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Monterey, to the late John B. and Eona Reinhold Bair. She married Harlan Henry Haselby on Oct. 9, 1948 in Detroit. He died March 25, 1997.

Mrs. Haselby was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church. She was also a member the United Methodist Women. She loved attending and working with the other members of her church. She especially enjoyed working at the annual bazaar.
She was a member of the Extension Homemakers, the Red Hat Society and the Bunco Club. She loved Indiana University basketball and coach Bob Knight. She disliked Purdue and Gene Keady. She enjoyed working in her garden and feeding her family with her produce. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, She enjoyed attending "grandparents day" at the school.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. (Thursday, Nov. 12), at the funeral home with Rev. Ruth Waite officiating. Burial will be at Star City West Cemetery, Star City.

Memorial donations may be given to Star City United Methodist Church.

Calvin J. Sutton

September 13, 1928 to November 7, 2015

FRANCESVILLE - Calvin James "Jim" Sutton, 87, of Francesville, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on Sept. 13, 1928 in rural Gilboa Township, Benton County, to the late BenjaminLewis and Annabelle Shultz Sutton.  He married Velma Hoppe on March 10, 1950 in Wolcott. She survives.

Mr. Sutton graduated from Gilboa High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a cook on a navy ship during the Korean Conflict. He was a 61-year member of the Francesville American Legion. Until his health began to fail, he participated in military honors for numerous local veterans. He retired as a lineman supervisor from NIPSCO after 32 years. At NIPSCO, he was fondly known as Cal to his co-workers and friends. He was a very hard worker, who was well respected for the way he could handle his crew and always complete the job (even when it was done his way). Before working for NIPSCO, he worked as a farmhand. After retirement, he worked as courier for Alliance Bank, truck driver for Ginrich Elevator, delivery man for Red Carpet and driver for Parkview Haven Retirement Home. He also worked with his son Alan at Sutton Graphics. 

Mr. Sutton was a former leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Goodland and Medaryville. He enjoyed teaching scouts many important life skills was very influential to many young men. He especially enjoyed the camping and Pinewood Derby Races. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and taking care of his lawn. He was very handy and was known to mark his tools in his own special way with blue paint. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a mentor and a friend who you could always count on. He will be dearly missed. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home with Pastor James Ketchen officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services. 

Memorial donations may be given to Franciscan Health Rensselaer Hospice.

MEDARYUVILLE - Loretta Ann Mullins, 78, of Galesburg, MI, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at her home.

She was born April 10, 1937 in Crossville, TN. She married Clifford Mullins who preceded her in death.

Grace Harrell

April 7, 1923 to October 29, 2015

HAMLET - Grace "Irene" Harrell, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 29, at her son's home, following an illness.

She was born April 7, 1923 in Highland to the late Elmer and Grace Conn Dilts and lived in the area for 33 years, coming from Black Oak. On April 12, 1941, in Winamac, she married Jesse S. Harrell, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Dennis (Tammy) Harrell of Plymouth; four daughters, Sandy Adams of Ruskin, Fla., Peggy (Carl) Huddleston of Hamlet, Terrie (Michael) Stuart of Kingsford Heights, and Brenda Fletcher of Union Mills; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Elsie) Dilts; and one son-in-law, Bobby Davis

She was also preceded in death by one son, Jesse; two daughters, Bonnie Bailey and Sharon Davis; one son-in-law, Frank Adams; one granddaughter, Regina Stewart; and one great-great-grandson, Kandon Riley.

Mrs. Harrell devoted her life to being the best homemaker. She was a member of the Knox VFWLadies Auxiliary Post #748 and Starke County ABATE.

Friends may visit Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. (CT), at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel; and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. (CT), Monday, Nov. 2, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
