Kenneth Lee Strayer

WINAMAC - Kenneth Lee Strayer, 69, of 1937 S. U.S. 35, Winamac, passed away at 3 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, in his residence.
He was born June 22, 1941, in Black Oak, Ind., to the late Merle and Elnora Melcher Strayer. His first marriage was to JoAnn Jones. He was then married on June 22, 2009, in Winamac, to Karen L. Foster Brown. She survives.

Mr. Strayer lived in Winamac for the past 19 months to enjoy the Tippecanoe River, coming from Gary, where he lived all of his life. He was an ironworker for 49 years and member of the Ironworkers Local 395.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday (Jan. 14), at the funeral home with Pastor Denny Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Leiters Ford Cemetery.
Annetta Johnson
August 30, 1946 to January 9, 2011
WINAMAC - Annetta F. Johnson, 64, of 503 W. Eastlawn Road, Burnettsville, formerly of Star City, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 9, in her residence.
She was born Aug. 30, 1946 in Logansport, to Walker and Virginia Holcomb Pugh. She was married on Dec. 12, 1967, in Winamac, to Alan G. Johnson. He survives.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Orion Safety Products in Peru. She also had been a self-employed beautician in Star City. She was a graduate of Logansport High School and Wright's Beauty College, Logansport. She was proud of her Cherokee heritage.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday (Jan. 13), at Star City West Cemetery, Star City, with Rev. Brian Smith officiating.
Memorial donations may be given to Renal Cell Kidney Cancer Research, Hope Hospice, Rochester,or the Star City United Methodist Church.
Lorraine I. Galbreath

WINAMAC - Lorraine I. Galbreath, 94 ,of 6682 English Drive, Avon, formerly of Star City, passed away at 5:38 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 9, in Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.
She was born June 12, 1916, in Volga, IA, to the late Lawrence and Myra Wells Hulverson. She married Marion Wilbert Galbreath on Jan. 8, 1946, Volga, IA. He died on Nov. 11, 1994.

Mrs. Galbreath lived most of her life in Star City and moved to Avon, eight years ago. She was a cook in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. She was a former Cub Scout den mother.
Friends may call after 12 noon Saturday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., (Saturday, Jan. 15), at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Davidson officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
Nancy S. Freeman
March 9, 1931 to January 8, 2011
WINAMAC - Nancy S. Freeman, 79, 703 S. Market St., Winamac, passed away at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
She was born March 9, 1931, in Bristol, VA, to the late Charles and Pauline Stone Dulaney. She married John S. Freeman on April 5, 1952, in Kingsville, TX. He survives.

Mrs. Freeman grew up in Bluntville, TN. She attended college in Knoxville, TN, before joining the U.S. Navy in 1951. She was a former member of the Winamac First Presbyterian Church, and also a former Sunday School teacher. She was a homemaker and cared for her grandchildren. She was a special needs aide in Winamac and Star City for a few years. She was a retired Pulaski County Deputy Clerk where she was employed for 19 years.
No services will be held.
Gary L. Winn
July 15, 1945 to January 6, 2011
ROYAL CENTER - Gary L. Winn, 65, of Winamac passed away at 11:08 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, at his residence.
Born on July 15, 1945 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Dean and Helen Marie (Tatman) Winn.
Survivors include his sons, Steven L. Winn and wife Betty of Winamac, Jason D. Winn and wife Marie of Star City, and Cory J. Winn and wife Brandi of Rochester, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Carter Winn and one sister, Kay Patterson.
Mr. Winn was a retired well driller and farmer. He was a member of Moose Lodge #2513 in Winamac and he was also a former member of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge #585 and the Winamac Eagles Lodge.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (Jan. 11), at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bell Center Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Carter S. Winn Scholarship Fund in c/o the Winamac Moose Lodge #2513.
Ruby I. Wilkie

WINAMAC - Ruby I. Wilkie, 96, of 515 E. 13th St., Winamac, passed away at 9:10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Hickory Creek, Winamac.
She was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Winamac, to the late Kie and Lillian Thomas Passmore.

James Theodore White
September 26, 1916 to January 1, 2011
KEWANNA - James "Jim" Theodore White, 94, of Kewanna, passed away at home at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 1.
Born Sept. 26, 1916, in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary K. "Mae" Tyrrell White. On Jan. 25, 1947, he married Margaret Mary Medland, in Logansport. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1993.
Survivors include his children, Linda Menkhaus and husband Dale of Laramie, Wyoming, Robert White and companion Martie Collins of Monterey, Edwin White and wife Pamela of Kewanna, and Kathy Bobbitt and husband Joe of Laramie, Wyoming; grandchildren, Brian Menkhaus, Todd Menkhaus and wife Erin, Kathleen (Menkhaus) Cole and husband Nicholas, Carmen White and husband Dirk Sheehan, Ted White, Carrie White, Matt White and wife Kimmie, Kristin (Bobbitt) Burkart and husband Brent, Paula (Bobbitt) Vasek and husband Nathan, Kara Bobbitt, Laura (Bobbitt) Robbins and husband Will; great grandchildren, Bryson Menkhaus, Casey, Ryan and Evie Sheehan, Teresa, Daniel and Henry Cole, Madison Burkart, James and Adelaide Vasek, and step great grandchild, Christian Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by brother, William White, daughter in law, Pamela Donnelly White, and granddaughter Sarah White.
Mr. White was a 1934 Grass Creek High School graduate. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran from 1941-1945 serving in the Pacific Theater. After returning home from the Army, he became a lifelong farmer, raised his family and became a well known community member in the Kewanna area. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Kewanna, a lifetime member of VFW #1121, Kewanna, and a former member of the Grass Creek Lion’s Club. Mr. White was instrumental in forming the Grass Creek Little League.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with military rites at 6 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday (Jan. 6), at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kewanna. Burial will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Kewanna.
Memorial donations may be made to Pulaski Memorial Hospice and/or St. Ann Catholic Church.
