Diana L. Hopkins

November 20, 1945 to March 11, 2022

WINAMAC - Diana L. Hopkins, 76, of Winamac, passed away Friday, March 11, at her home.

She was born Nov. 20, 1945 in Gary, to the late Eugene and Harriett Hood Molnar. She was a graduate of William A. Wirt High School in Gary. On Jan. 30, 1967 in Miller, IN she married Richard C. Hopkins who survives.

Mrs. Hopikins was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski and Christian Mothers. She was a longtime member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary #502 in South Haven, IN, as well as past president of the American Legion Auxiliary for Indiana’s Second District. She was also a longtime member and first female member of the Lion’s Club in South Haven. While her accomplishments may not seem big to many, she was the world record holder for her family.

A rosary service will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Visitation will follow from 3:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. A scriptural wake service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, also at the funeral home, followed by a Christian Mothers’ service. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski, with Rev. Andrew DeKeyser officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery West in Pulaski.

William C. Luebbert III

February 18, 1954 to March 9, 2022

FRANCESVILLE - William Conrad “Bill” Luebbert III, 68, of Francesville (formerly of Muscatine, IA), passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 9, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

He was born Feb. 18, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, MI and grew up in Muscatine, IA. On April 25, 2011, he married Holly A. Long Tolzin in Gatlinburg, TN. She survives.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Luebbert worked as a mainframe computer operator for many years. He and his wife enjoyed attending the First Christian Church in Francesville. He was a proud member of the NRA and the Masonic Lodge. He liked family genealogy and Bible study. He really enjoyed living the country life in Indiana.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., March 26, at the funeral home with Pastor James Ketchen officiating. The American Legion will conduct military honors at the funeral home.

Evert Fugate

December 15, 1938 to March 6, 2022

Evert Fugate

MEDARYVILLE - Evert Fugate, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 6.

He was born Dec. 15, 1938, the son of Everett and Meda Wireman Fugate.

He is survived by two sons, James Lee Fugate and Ronald Ray Trusty; six grandchildren; one sister, Marie Fugate Hale; and one brother, David Lee Fugate.

Mr. Fugate had a full life. He grew up outside of Medaryville. He worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corps. After the Marines, he became an apprentice electrician at Pullman Standard. Throughout his life, he worked as a boilermaker and semi-truck driver. When he wasn’t on the road, he was out in his shed building small trailers or doing some welding for his neighbors.

A celebration of life event will be held at a later date.

August 21, 1958 to March 6, 2022

WINAMAC - Patricia S. “Pat” Rogers, 63, of Winamac, passed away Sunday, March 6, at her home.

She was born Aug. 21, 1958 in Logansport, to the late Sylvester L. and Alice E. Budd Burns. She graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1977. On May 11, 1985, she married Vere R. “Bud” Rogers in Star City. He survives.

In her younger years, Mrs. Rogers worked at the Pulaski County Courthouse and Miller’s Restaurant in Winamac, Kewanna Metal Specialties in Kewanna, and Indiana Beach in Monticello. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She had a heart of gold and loved spending time with friends and family. She especially enjoyed a cup of coffee or a cold Pepsi.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday, March 11, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Burns officiating. Private Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery (Southlawn Addition) in Winamac.

Jeremy P. Tidwell

WINAMAC - Jeremy P. Tidwell, 41, of Winamac, passed away Saturday, March 5.

He was born March 17, 1980 in Michigan City, to Roy and Janette Stewart Tidwell. He graduated from Winamac Community High School in 1998.

Mr. Tidwell attended Moores Hill Baptist Church in Moores Hill, IN where he was baptized in June of 2020. He was a hard worker and was very hands-on. He worked in construction and fabrication. He enjoyed cooking and was well-known for his chicken and shrimp scampi. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and collector of Air Jordans. He had a great sense of humor and told amazing stories. He was a loving father, son, and brother. He believed in helping others and not being judgmental.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, March 17, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., March 17, at the funeral home.

Jerry L. Hanna

January 3, 1945 to February 28, 2022

WINAMAC - Jerry L. Hanna, 77, of Star City, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, at his home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1945 in Rensselaer, to the late Max and Ruth Putt Hanna. He grew up in White County, and attended school in Monticello. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On Dec. 27, 2004, he married Kathleen Y. Williams Hewitt in Logansport. She passed away Dec. 30, 2021.

Mr. Hanna was retired, having worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #150 in Countryside, IL. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Winamac, and former member of the Masonic Lodge in Illinois. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, and playing Euchre. He was a long-time friend of Bill’s. He valued a good conversation and was known for his great sense of humor. He will be remembered most for his Godly spirit and random acts of kindness.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 12, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the church with Pastor Tom Woodley officiating. Burial will be at Star City West Cemetery in Star City. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
