Two-vehicle accident claims life of Winamac woman

A car-truck crash west of Winamac claimed the life of a Winamac woman, Dolly Frinkle, 71, just before noon on Monday (July 28).

The driver of the truck, David Bailey, 48, was treated at the scene, according to a report from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.

The Pulaski County 911 Dispatch Center received a call at 11:49 a.m. of a serious personal injury crash at the gravel roads intersection of CR 100 S and CR 600 W, six miles west of Winamac in Jefferson Township.

Investigating officers determined a 1996 Buick Park Avenue four-door, driven by Mrs. Frinkle, was westbound on CR 100 S and failed to stop at the intersection. A Pulaski County Highway 2002 Volvo tandem dump truck, driven by Bailey, was northbound on CR 600 W. The dump truck struck the driver’s door and left front of the Buick causing it to glance off into a wooded area and catch fire. The dump truck rolled over on its right side after impact.

Mrs.Frinkle was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.
