Endowment established for Animal Center

A permanent endowment has been created to provide support to Pulaski Animal Center (PAC), a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The new fund comes just over a year since a temporary start-up fund was created in the Pulaski County Community Foundation to accept donations toward a facility for abandoned and stray animals.

Bill and Peach Roth of Pulaski are the fund’s founders, and voice their support of PAC in its mission to control pet over-population in Pulaski County.

“We believe in the Pulaski Animal Center’s goals to save the lives of lost, abandoned or surrendered animals,” said Peach.

Three years ago, a core group of Pulaski County animal lovers committed to establish an animal shelter for the county. Much hard work resulted in a new nonprofit, and the Community Foundation provided fiscal sponsorship, allowing the group to accept tax-deductible donations toward their goal. After PAC received charitable status from the IRS, it no longer needed the Foundation’s sponsorship to provide tax receipts for donations.

However, Bill Roth, Pulaski Animal Center board member, saw the opportunity to provide perpetual support for the Animal Center through a permanently endowed fund.

He said, “We like knowing that this fund will be a reliable source of support for PAC’s future.”

The Roths were especially pleased to take advantage of the Community Foundation’s current matching program to create the new endowment.

Contributions to the Pulaski Animal Center Endowment may be made at any time in any amount to Pulaski County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 407, Winamac, or through their website at www.pulaskiccf.org.  Endowments provide support for charitable entities through annual distributions of fund earnings.
