Star City woman critically injuried in one-car crash

WINAMAC - A Star City woman was airlifted to a South Bend hospital in critical condition Saturday night following a one-vehicle roll-over accident on the southside of Winamac.

Amanda L. Abbott, 34, was first transported to Pulaski Memorial Hospital, and later flown via Samaritan Air Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.

At 8:02 p.m., Saturday (March 21), Pulaski County Sheriff’s 911 Center received a call regarding a vehicle that had rolled over several times in a field, and the driver had been ejected, on CR 150 S, east of SR 119. Responders arrived on the scene to find Abbott, critically injured, according to the police report.

Abbott was transported by Pulaski County EMS to PMH

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Winamac Police Department, Winamac Fire Department, Pulaski County EMS, and Pulaski County REACT were on scene for several hours investigating the crash. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time, but speed is believed to be a factor. 

Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted in the investigation at the scene by the Indiana State Police (Lowell Post).
