Star City playground gets a facelift

STAR CITY - Thanks to the Pulaski County Community Foundation and Star City United Methodist Church, the playground in the center of Star City is getting a new life.

Last fall, Star City UMC received a grant to refurbish the playground. After a community meeting to get ideas, the first work day was held May 16.

The day was overcast but the rain held off while nearly 30 people from the church and the community worked on repairing the fence and the equipment in the playground.

The bouncy horses were repaired and repainted. New swings replaced the broken ones, both on the large swing and on the baby swing. A post placed in the ground will soon become a tire climber, and the base for a tether ball game was also set in the ground.

The next work day is scheduled for June 6.
