Bicentennial Legacy project approved for Pulaski County Quilters

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission held its September meeting at the Lake County Public Library on Sept. 18. There were 80 Legacy Projects approved this round, one of which is in Pulaski County.

Quilters of Pulaski County will complete a “Quiltessential Pulaski County” project.

The county’s most talented needle-and-thread artists will create a one-of-a-kind Pulaski County themed quilt, showcasing unique, historic and otherwise interesting places on the blocks and squares of the quilt.

Upon completion, the artwork will spend the entire year of 2016 traveling throughout Pulaski County, where it will be temporarily displayed in libraries, schools, festivals and a host of other sites accessible to the residents and visitors of Pulaski County.

About the Indiana Bicentennial Commission

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission is a 15-member body, chaired by Becky Skillman and Lee Hamilton, charged with overseeing the planning and execution of a statewide celebration for Indiana’s 200th birthday. First Lady Karen Pence serves as official Bicentennial Ambassador. Indiana’s 2016 Bicentennial celebration aims to honor our state’s 200 years of history, but do so in a way that engages all 6.5 million Hoosiers and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations. The commission encourages every community in Indiana to take part in this unique celebration.
