Over 40 county residents complete Indy Mini

INDIANAPOLIS - Over 40 Pulaski County residents crossed the finish line in the running of the 2016 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon in Indianapolis Saturday (May 7).
Leading the pack in Pulaski County were Joell Grisel of Winamac who finished in a clock time of 1:34.41, followed by Tasha Mitchell of Winamac, who ran the course in 1:36.57, and Anthony Chapman with a time of 1:46:20.
Macdonard Ondara won the men’s Mini-Marathon, clocking 1:02:02. For the women, Ogla Kimaiyo finished first, clocking 1:11:42. The annual 13.1-mile run drew more than 30,000 registrants for the Mini-Marathon, An additional 4,500 registered for the 5K race.
The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon is one of the premiere half-marathons in ,the country. This 500 Festival tradition marked the 40th running of the race. Within its 39-year history, many stories have emerged around the excitement. From United States Olympian marathon runners, the arrival of international runners, to the family traditions, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon provides competition and camaraderie.
The course for the Mini-Marathon begins near the intersection of Washington and West streets, heads west toward the Indianapolis Motor Speedway along Michigan Street and does a complete lap around the 2.5 mile track before heading back down New York Street to the finish line.
