2016 4-H Junior Achievers announced

Each year the local 4-H club leaders are asked to choose a fourth-year member of their club who they believe has demonstrated the qualities of up-and-coming leaders. These qualities include character, willingness to help, achievement skills, leadership, and overall positive attitude. 

All of these 4-H unior Achievers will be recognized at the 4-H Achievement Program at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 2 at the entertainment stage in the fairgrounds.

 

2016 Pulaski County 4-H Junior Achievers

 

Shelby Allen, daughter of Kelly Ortman, is a member of the Paw Prints Dog 4-H Club. She will be entering 7th grade at Winamac Community Middle School. She has completed four years in dogs and clothing, three years in sewing and cake decorating, two years in child development and foods, and one year in sheep and vet science. Her favorite project is dogs because she gets to hang out with her dog. She has received many awards for several of her projects. She hopes to pursue a career in teaching.

Kirsten Calloway, daughter of Don and Theresa Calloway, is in Van Buren 4-Leafers 4-H Club. She will be entering 7th grade at Winamac Community Middle School. She has completed four years of swine, beef, sewing, crops, soybeans, do-your-own-thing, foods, and Christmas ornaments, three years of recycling, floriculture, goats, and strawberries, two years of poultry/eggs and gift wrapping, and one year of cake decorating, collections, gardening, and weeds. She has received many champions and state fair entries for her projects and animals. She has also received champion starter steer. Her favorite project is beef and swine because she likes working with animals. Kirsten would like to pursue a career in nursing.

Kelsey Conner, daughter of Jim and Mary Conner, is a member of Shooting Sports 4-H Club. She will be entering the 7th grade at Winamac Community Middle School. She has completed four years in the following: horse and pony, environment, shooting sports, sewing, fine arts, foods, flowers, gardening, poultry, and swine. Her favorite project is fine arts because she loves drawing and art. She has been awarded two Joe Krulick Awards in horse and pony, eight state fair entries, and a horse and pony plaque. She would like to pursue a career in animation.

Serenity Davis, daughter of Heather Davis, is a member of the Lucky Clovers 4-H Club. She will be entering the 7th grade at Rensselaer Middle School. She has completed four years in pocket pals. Her favorite project is anything to do with animals because they hold a special place in her heart. She had received reserve champion and reserve grand champion. She would like to pursue a career in nursing.

Brendan Day, son of Kullen and Toni Day, is a member of Harrison Hustlers 4-H Club. He will be entering 7th grade at Winamac Community Middle School. He has completed three years in swine, geology, and wildlife. He has also completed projects in cats, Legos, farm toy scene, computers, models, heritage, and weeds. His favorite project was in heritage because he learned more about his family. He wants to pursue a career in mathematics.

Coy Field, son of Justin and Candy Field, is a member of Franklin Farmers 4-H Club. He will be entering 9th grade at Winamac Community High School. He has completed two years in toy farm scene and starter steer, and one year in Legos and model cars. Beef cattle is his favorite project because you have to be responsible for them in so many ways. He hopes to one day pursue a career in beef and crop farming.

Ella Hague, daughter of Jason and Christy Hague, is a member of the Horse and Pony 4-H Club. She will be entering the 7th gradel at Winamac Community Middle School. She has completed four years of Horse and Pony. This is her favorite project because she loves horses. She hopes to become a veterinarian in the future.

Braeden Linhart, son of Jeremy and Kelli Wildermuth, is a member of Tippecanoe Industrious 4-H Club. He will be entering 7th grade at Winamac Community Middle School. He has completed four years of farm toy scene and swine, three years of ducks, two years of do-your-own-thing, and one year of recycling. His favorite project is swine because he gets to work with animals and watch them grow. He would like to become a surgeon in the future, so that he can help people feel better.

Anna May Lucy, daughter of Aaron and Norma Lucy, is a member of Monroe Happy Hoosiers 4-H Club. She will be entering the 8th grade at Winamac Community Middle School. She has completed three years of farm toy scene, two years of aerospace and consumer clothing, and one year for electric, do-your-own-thing, and shooting sports. Her favorite project is electric because she gets to spend time with her dad. She has been to 4-H camp and a trip to Zao Island with her club. She has received champion for consumer clothing and reserve champion with rifle. Anna is hoping to one day open her own diner in Winamac or somewhere close by.

Tyler Perry, son of Derick and Marcie Perry, is a member of Monroe 76’ers 4-H Club. He will be entering 7th gradel at Winamac Community Middle School. He has completed four years in horse and pony, three years in rabbits, and one year in sports. He has received a first at both the county level and State Fair one year in Junior Western Pleasure class. Horses is his favorite project because he loves to work with them. Tyler is looking to pursue a career in professional baseball.

Megan Stimson, daughter of Michael and Donita Stimson, is a member of the Salem Superstars 4-H Club. She will be entering the 7th grade at West Central Middle School.. She has completed projects in foods, food preservation, pet pals, baking with a box, cupcake decorating, sports, shooting sports, and arts and crafts. Her favorite project is cupcake decorating. She has received numerous ribbons for various projects and several plaques. She would like to pursue a career in either photography or baking, maybe both.

Nathan Thompson, son of Scott and Joanna Thompson, is a member of Beaver Township 4-H Club. He will entering 7th gradel at West Central Middle School. He has completed four years in electric, corn, and soybeans, and one year in the following woodworking, cats, wheat, fine arts, dogs, and basic crafts. Nathan has been awarded state fair entries, grand champion, reserve grand champion, and several champions. His favorite project is electric because he has learned a lot, especially safety, when working with it. He hopes to pursue a career in farming in the future.
