Pulaski County Public Library begins Centennial Fundraising Campaign

From the Pulaski County Public Library

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the original Carnegie library in Winamac, which was completed through the generous donation of benefactor Andrew Carnegie.

For the past 100 years, the Pulaski County Public Library has strived to provide a place where members of the community can learn and grow. The library board of trustees and staff are already dreaming of the opportunities that will await library patrons into the next 100 years.

For many people, like middle school student Terry Schwartz, the Pulaski County Public Library provides a learning opportunity, “I like the library because it gives me something to do. I love going to Teen Activity Board. The library has always been there for me. I consider the library my home and family.”

Others in the community have come to value the high-quality of programming the library staff creates each month. Similar to others, patron Judy Poor has come to value these regular opportunities, “My favorite things about the library are the different activities that are hosted each month.”

In light of the library’s 100th anniversary, a special fundraising campaign has been initiated by the board of trustees. Gifts of $100 or more, will qualify the donor as a member of the Centennial Circle. By donating at this level, you help ensure that the library will be able to maintain exceptional service for years to come. Monetary donations of any amount are welcome.

The Centennial Campaign highlights the organization’s two gift funds: The Library Fund and the Gift Memorial Fund. These funds allow the library to expand its services and to provide community programming free of charge.

The Library Fund is an endowment managed by the Community Foundation of Pulaski County. As an endowment, the fund supplies the library with income each year while retaining the bulk of the money for growth and future use. This structure means that your donation will have an impact well into the future. Donations to this fund can be made by visiting the Community Foundation’s office or website at cfopc.org.

The Gift Memorial Fund is an unrestricted fund that the library uses to support its mission in many areas, including special events, equipment purchases, and development opportunities. Donations to this fund should be made out to Pulaski County Public Library Gift Memorial Fund and may be dropped off or mailed to the library (121 S. Riverside Dr., Winamac).

The campaign will continue until Aug. 1, 2017.

The library board and staff are grateful to have had the opportunity to serve the community for the past 100 years. With your support, we look forward to continuing our service for the next 100.
