CFPC elects officers, welcomes new directors

Community Foundation of Pulaski County (CFPC) has announced that its board of directors recently elected officers and welcomed two new members.

Leading the board is chair Gregg Malott, director of business development at Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

“I look forward to serving a second term as board chair, especially as the Community Foundation recognizes its 20th year,” said Malott. “The board is energized by the foundation’s success with Lilly Endowment’s GIFT VI challenge in 2016, and excited about making future county impact.”

Malott is active in other organizations including Community Development Commission and Winamac Kiwanis Club. Said Malott, “Giving back to one’s community is something we all can do in a variety of ways. I believe the Community Foundation of Pulaski County is a key organization whose work and future potential has never been more important.”

Malott is joined by officers including:

  • Vice President - Don Street, West Central Schools Superintendent and past CFPC president
  • Treasurer - Robert Simpson, CPA and past CFPC president
  • Secretary - Darlene Mellon, retired teacher and five-year director

New board member Dan Zylstra brings his own experiences and expertise to benefit the organization’s upcoming efforts.  Zylstra has served as West Central Elementary School Principal since 2012 and is also a Hometown Collaboration member. He served on the CFPC Grants Committee for the past three years and looks forward to becoming more deeply involved. “My passion for community, combined with the strength of this organization has helped me commit to serving through the foundation.”

Vicki Overmyer has also joined the board in 2017. Overmyer has spent her career in the nursing field, serving as an ICU nurse, emergency room RN, and currently as a family nurse practitioner. Helping with the family farm, teaching Sunday School, and being ready help in the Monterey community fills her remaining time. Even so, Overmyer said, “I want to give more to the community, and look forward to assisting the Foundation in its mission to serve and enrich our county.”

Continuing directors include: Bob Conn, Missy Culp, Katie DeGroot, Carola Forsythe, Julie Hanus, Jim Ketchen, Robert Klitzman, and Shane Pilarski.

“Getting the right expertise and varied perspectives on the board is fundamental to the board’s success,” said Wendy Rose, executive director of CFPC. “Each individual brings with them a depth of knowledge and experience as well as geographic diversity. We are thrilled to welcome both Dan and Vicki to the board in our 20th year as we implement a new strategic plan to carry out our mission and commitment to improve quality of life, steward endowed funds, and foster philanthropy in Pulaski County.”
