Alliance Bank names Pilarski new president/CEO

FRANCESVILLE - The board of directors of Alliance Bancorp have announced Shane R. Pilarski as president and CEO of Alliance Bank.

She becomes, not only one of the youngest, but only the fourth female executive in this role in the state of Indiana.

Women in an executive level in the banking industry are unique and Pilarski joins a select group of women who have made strides in moving into a leadership role. According to a 2015 Pew Research Center survey of top leaders from mid-market businesses throughout the U.S., only 22% of senior managers were women. In addition, a 2014 study of women in finance by Catalyst Research found that women held less than 5% of the CEO positions in both Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies. Alliance Bank officials say they are "proud to add our current president/CEO to these ranks."

Pilarski grew up on a farm in Newton County where her family farm is now in its fourth generation of ownership. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and graduated with honors from the Barret Graduate School of Banking. With job opportunities at hand, Pilarski and her husband moved to Francesville over a decade ago where they have embedded themselves and their children into the community.

Pilarski’s tenure with Alliance Bank began in 2002. While at the bank, she’s worked in both the lending and accounting areas. She joined the bank as a loan clerk and was promoted to underwriter/credit analyst in 2003. In 2008, she began spending 80% of her time in the loan area and 20% of her time in the accounting area. Pilarski was promoted to internal accountant in 2010, assistant vice president/finance in 2011, vice president/controller in 2014 and executive vice president/chief financial officer in 2015.

Pilarski began her professional career as a high school educator teaching higher level mathematics. She has 15 years of banking experience and serves on the finance committee of the Community Foundation of Pulaski County, volunteers with the Francesville Volunteer Fire Dept Auxiliary and is active with her church.
