Maddie Ruff crowned Miss Pulaski County 2017

Miss Pulaski County 2017 is Maddie Ruff who was crowned Sunday night from among six contestants at the annual pageant at the Pulaski County fairgrounds in Winamac.

The new queen was also named Miss Congeniality. Members of her court are first runner-up Rachel Ploss, second runner-up Sara Bailey and third runner-up Addison Roudebush.

Madie Ruff was crowned Miss Pulaski County 2017 at the annual pageant Sunday night held during the Pulaski County 4-H & Community Fair. Miss Ruff was also named Miss Congeniality. The mission of the Miss Pulaski County Queen Pageant is to empower young women in Pulaski County through personal growth, networking and community involvement.

Mistress of Ceremonies for the pageant was Alivia Roberts of Columbia City, who currently resides in Monterey. She is 2015 Miss Whitley County and 2016 Miss Indiana State Fair first runner-up.

The contestants took part in a preliminary competition earlier in the day at Winamac First United Methodist Church. Three out-of-county individuals judged the pageant contestants.

The pageant committee has been working with the contestants since early June on various professional life skills which will help them on pageant day as well as in their future endeavors. The candidates have also been preparing for the pageant with training in make-up, public speaking, stage presence and interviewing, along with rehearsals, mock judgings, club appearances and other events.

The pageant committee includes co-directors Cortney Brandt and Ashley Reinhold, plus Macy Bischoff, Jordan Brandt and reigning queen Jessica Wagner.

The new queen and her court will receive cash and other prizes. The queen will also receive a crown, a dozen roses, a sash, and a queen’s pin for the year in memory of 1981 Miss Pulaski County Sharon Powers. The runners-up also receive prizes, tiaras, and sashes.

The new queen will also compete for the title of Miss Indiana State Fair in January 2018 in Indianapolis The state pageant was moved two years ago from August to January.

The 2017 Miss Pulaski County contestants are:

Sara Bailey of Winamac is the 19-year-old daughter of Glen and Dawn Bailey. In the fall she will return to Purdue University as a sophomore majoring in Selling & Sales Management and Retail  Management. Sara is sponsored by Culver’s Portside Marina.

Hanna Galbreath-Kaminski of Winamac is the 17-year-old daughter of Rebecca Kinder. In the fall she will be a freshman at Purdue University where she is majoring in Pre-Athletic Training. Hannah is sponsored by Fritz’s Windows.

Brittany McMullen of Medaryville is the 18-year-old daughter of Amber McMullen. In the fall she will attend Tricoci University of Beauty Culture to major in Cosmetology. Brittany is sponsored by the Patio Drive-In.

Addison Roudebush of Winamac is the 18-year-old daughter of Scott and Mashell Roudebush. In the fall Addison will be a freshman at Ball State University. Addison is sponsored by Moss Creek Golf Course.

Rachel Ploss of Star City is the 17-year-old daughter of Tony and Patti Ploss. In the fall she will be a junior at Winamac Community High School. Rachel is sponsored by Patchwork Pals EH Club.

Maddie Ruff of Star City is the 19-year-old daughter of Jim and Shelia Ruff. In the fall she will be a sophomore at Ball State University where she is majoring in Special Education. Maddie is sponsored by Country Color Floral.
