Indiana State Fair runs Aug. 4-20

INDIANAPOLIS - The 2017 Indiana State Fair will celebrate the "Wonderful World of Food"  with two-and-a-half miles of food and fun, 10 acres of thrills, rides and games, 17 days of FREE Stage stars, the ever-popular Pioneer Village - and hundreds of events and programs

The Indiana State Fair returns to honor youth, agriculture and education in an entertaining and fun environment. The fair runs Aug. 4-20, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds; 1202 E. 38th St. Indianapolis.

The fair is filled with agriculture exhibits, livestock, home and family arts, horticulture, 4-H and other exhibits, competitions, concerts, family fun events, educational displays, a huge midway, and endless food concessions.

General admission tickets are $8 if purchased by Aug. 4; they are $12 at the gate. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free. For ticket information, click here.

Our Global Kitchen

Taking visitors on a journey around the world and through time, this exhibition explores the common interactions we have with our food, examining the intricate system that brings what we eat from the farm to our tables. Through digital interactives, rich dioramas, cultural artifacts, and striking models, visitors will experience stories of how humans have shaped the foods we know, and how food has shaped us.

Subaru Skyride

Experience the Indiana State Fair from a new view!

Visitors to this year’s Indiana State Fair will get the chance to see the sights from high above the Fairgrounds with the addition of the NEW Subaru Skyride.


World Championship Ice Cream Eating Contest

Become a fan of the newest major league sport to hit the Indiana State Fair.

Indulge in the fun of celebrating ICE CREAM on Aug. 13 by watching fellow Fairgoers devour this summer treat as quickly as possible – without getting a brain freeze!



Cheer on the DockDogs as they leap to great heights before diving paws-first into the water.

Baird’s Exotic Animal Experience

Ever seen a camel up close? How about a buffalo or an ostrich? Not on your typical Indiana farm.

These animals, and more, can be found within Baird’s Exotic Animal Experience daily MetroPCS Family Fun Park!


Budweiser Clydesdales

Come see the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses August 16 through the 20 in the MetroPCS Family Fun Park!

The traveling horses, a symbol of the Anheuser-Busch company since 1933, make hundreds of appearances throughout the year and we’re so excited to have them in our Fun Park for the 2017 State Fair!


Tour a Pig Farm with Virtual Reality Glasses

Make your way to the Glass Barn where you can try out the newest rage in technology: Virtual Reality Glasses!

Put on your glasses and be transported to a rural pig farm. Meet the sow and her piglets while learning the steps farmers take to improve the care of their animals.

Hedrick’s Racing Pigs

Racing has gone to the pigs in this thrilling NEW family-fun event! Cheer on your favorite “hog-letes” as they make a mad dash to the finish line.

The winner will receive the coveted supreme prize: one Oreo cookie served upon a silver platter!

Barn Chats presented by Farm Credit Mid-America

Want to learn more about livestock and the people who care for, raise and show these animals?

Come participate in a Barn Chat to learn the facts – from showing to the food we eat. These 15 minute conversations will be led by a moderator and feature industry experts who will share their experience and knowledge.

Barn Chats are scheduled daily in the Cattle, Swine, Sheep and Poultry Barns. Check the website and Daily Sheets for times and learn more about the livestock industry in Indiana.

Gates open daily at 8 a.m.; Admission tickets will not be accepted or sold after 9 p.m. (Sun.-Thurs) and 9:30 p.m. (Fri.- Sat);

Building/Exhibits Hoursare generally 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the Fair

Vendor Hoursare 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Midway Hoursare Mon.-Fri.: 12 Noon to 11 p.m. (wristbands not sold after 8:30 p.m. or accepted after 10 p.m.). Sat.-Sun.: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (wristbands not sold after 8:30 p.m. or accepted after 10 p.m.).
