PCPL lists December events, including Santa visits

The Pulaski County Public Library has listed its special programs and activities for December, including visits by Santa, Christmas carols and Christmas Bingo.

Special Events:

Santa Visits the Library: Santa will be making a number of stops at the library throughout the month of December to pose for pictures, listen to children's Christmas wishes, and spread holiday cheer:

  • Tuesdays (Dec. 5, 12 & 19) from 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays (Dec. 2, 9, 16 & 23) from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
  • Santa will also visit the West Side Center in Medaryville on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 5  to 7 p.m.

Christmas Carols: Get cozy in front of our fireplace and sing along with David and Melissa Norris as they perform classic Christmas carols from 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Christmas Bingo: Have fun and win prizes with Christmas Bingo! Join us at 5 p.m.,  Thursday, Dec. 14. Call the library to sign up.

Computer Class -Microsoft Publisher II: Learn how to use Publisher to lay out and design documents at this introductory-level computer class from 10 a.m. to 12 noon,  Friday, Dec. 15. The class is free, but sign-up is required. Call the library to reserve your spot.

One-Day Sale - Books by the Pound: Do you like to get the most bang for your buck? Then you’ll definitely want to stop by our special book sale on Monday, Dec. 18. All books will be sold by weight at the low, low price of 25¢ per pound. You fill up a bag, we weigh it, and that’s it!

Make & Take Candy Cane Votive Holders: Display your holiday candles in style with festive candy cane votive holders! This craft will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. All supplies will be provided. Space is limited; call the library to reserve your spot.


Regular Programs:

Lego League: Every Monday at 4 p.m., kids of all ages can come and exercise their imagination as they build with Legos. A weekly theme serves as a launching point for their Lego creations.

Genealogy Help: Mondays, 4 to 6 p.m. If you’re interested in your family’s history but just aren’t sure where to start, this is the time and place to find out!

Together Time: This program is held on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m., and is for our youngest library patrons: music, stories, and fun for babies and toddlers.

Toddler Legos: We build with Duplo blocks - larger Lego bricks designed for young children - on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 (directly following Together Time).

Family Movie Night is held every Tuesday at 4 p.m. The December movies are:

  • Dec. 5: The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Dec. 12: Santa Paws 2
  • Dec. 19: The Santa Clause 3
  • Dec. 26: Fred Claus

Pokémon League: Join local youth as they play the exciting Pokémon card game. The league meets each Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Magic: The Gathering League :Bring your decks to this new weekly program.  Join other players in playing the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering every Thursday at 4 p.m.

Board Game Night: Every Thursday at 4 p.m. we set up a chosen game that anyone can play. Our entire board game library is also available.

Story Time :On Saturdays at 10 a.m. we read a picture book and make a fun craft.

Teen Activity Board: Teens gather for fun activities and to brainstorm ideas for upcoming events and programs. TAB meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m.

Book Club is held on the second Friday of each month at 2:30 p.m. The book up for discussion this month is Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie.
