Alexander Prasinos

March 5, 1922 to July 10, 2017

WINAMAC - Alexander "Alex" Prasinos, 95, of Harwich, MA passed away Monday, July 10, in Sandisfield, MA.

He was born March 5, 1922 in Canada to the late George and Maria Papajohn Prasinos. He was a graduate of Rindge Technical School. He earned a B.S. from Boston University and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He met his future wife Rose Mary Booher in Indiana and they were married on June 26, 1954, in South Bend. She preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 2009.

Nicholas (Bess) Prasinos, Brother

Mr. Prasinos worked as an attorney at several insurance companies for over 30 years. He was an officer in the Merchant Marines and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

A military graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Koster Cemetery, Francesville. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Koster Cemetery.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary.

Joan Lowe Jones

April 30, 1926 to August 11, 2017

WINAMAC - Joan Lowe Jones, 91, of Winamac (formerly of Logansport) passed away at 3:38 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, at Hickory Creek, Winamac.

She was born April 30, 1926 in Logansport to the late Charles and Myra Keim Lowe. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1944 and went on to attend the University of Illinois. On Oct. 1, 1945, she married James Joseph Jones in Logansport. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2017.

She is survived by:

Mrs. Jones was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and Psi Iota Psi Sorority. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially golfing and horses. The family wishes to thank Hickory Creek and Kindred Hospice for their care of Joan.

Private family services will be held.

Kathleen Gaugert

October 17, 1958 to August 1, 2017

WINAMAC - Kathleen Gaugert, 59, of Winamac, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Monticello.

She was born Oct. 17, 1958. 

No services will be scheduled.

Glenn A. Pierce Jr.

June 28, 1981 to August 2, 2017

WINAMAC - Glenn Arthur Pierce Jr, 36, of Winamac, passed away at 7:16 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital, Kokomo.

He was born June 28, 1981 in Knox, to Glenn Arthur Sr. and Felicia M. Graham Pierce.

He is survived by:

Sisters: Angie, Braylee, and Ayla 
Brothers: Brandon, Johnny, Joshua and Travis 
Paternal Grandfather: Arthur

Mr. Pierce worked as a property manager in Peru. He was very resourceful in his outlook and approach to most any situation he encountered. His advice to others is a testament to that. Everyone who knew him well would agree that he could make the sweetest lemonade out of life's lemons. He was kind and generous to the point of giving his last penny, if someone needed it more than he did. He would say that he would find a way to get by. And get by he did. He loved life and wanted to help others. He had a wish to one day have a small farm, complete with horses, cats, dogs, chickens and a fishing pond, where youngsters could go to learn independence, self-worth and personal life enhancement skills. His vision was to help troubled adolescents learn to cope and stay out of problems that so many face today as he did. Leaving a positive mark on at least one person's life was what he wanted. He did that over and over again for so many people. Congratulations my Son. May the flowers you planted bloom for all eternity.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home.

FRANCESVILLE - Edith Arlene Streitmatter, 82, of Francesville, passed away, surrounded by her family, at 10:24 p.m., Saturday, July 29, at Franciscan Health Hospital, Rensselaer.

She was born Sept. 9, 1934 in Rensselaer, to the late Richard and Zura Ethel Snedeker Streitmatter.

Ms. Streitmatter was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville. She had worked for over 30 years at Schumacher Company, Rensselaer. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She had been a resident of Parkview Haven Retirement home for 21 years.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville; and one hour prior to services at the church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday Aug. 4, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Francesville, with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Osborne Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Dennis F. Pletka

August 21, 1938 to July 29, 2017

WINAMAC - Dennis F. Pletka, 78, of Winamac, passed away at 5:10 a.m., Saturday, July 29, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

He was born Aug. 21, 1938 in Winamac, to the late Frank and Martha Pucka Pletka. He graduated from Winamac High School in 1957. On Aug. 30, 1970, he married DeAnna K. Sparks in Logansport. She survives.

Mr. Pletka retired from Plymouth Tube Company in Winamac after 30 years. He was a former coach with Winamac Youth Soccer for many years. He enjoyed horse racing, sports and his cats. He was an avid Cubs fan and a frustrated Bears and Notre Dame fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 31, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home with Rev Terry Bennis officiating. Burial will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
